President's Day.
__I'll never forget two years ago... my granddaughter asked,"Papa, this is Presents Day, where is mine?" Then, she was 6 years old.

As seen through this morning's light snowfall, 2-21-11:

Awww! How cute is she!

I love the haiku - reminds me of the circles of life, D.

the innocence of childhood...i've often felt the innocence returning with age....perhaps with age, we learn to see the simplicity of life once again....May be it's so all the time for artists/poets,

Good haiku, Magyar; and my love to the little one, Maya is her name/pet name, if i remember correct, no? :)

Oooo Dev,
__What a memory! You are quite correct!
__Our daughter-in-law has deep Peruvian heritage... and I proudly call Maya and my grandson Christian... 'my Incas!'
__A this 'age point' Dev, perhaps I'd better start refering to myself as a poet.

K,
__As much as we may say and feel that we do not change, we do... and there are those -markers- along the way that point out the unavoidable. Maya has a way of
-plopping down- innocent questions and statements that stir us all!

I sincerly thank you both, K and Dev! _m

... and we old can learn the meaning of -life- as we watch the young.

Thanks Joo!
__Since I have been leaving a lot of words here these past few days,
a question comes to mind: since you know -haiku- why not, from time to time, post your own work to grace your photos?

Lieber Magyar,

Kindermund ist einfach immer für Überraschungen gut, lächel. Sie reden und fragen ehrlich und sind in ihrer eigenen Welt so herrlich süß:-)

Dir ganz liebe Grüße
von Herzen, Rachel

Dear Rachel,
__Such honesty in their young world... and they see all things with that honesty; the smiles and happy memories remain within the heart of those that see and hear!
__Thank you, Rachel! _m

This ku could be a classic one - written by the old haijin.

I will think of your granddaughter from now on, on this day.

Yes, I can see signs of the spring in the trees and bushes, too. Isn't it wonderful?

Gosh, an outstanding haiku M!

How precious the words from your granddaughter's lips - children call it like it is often waking us up to the strange realities we live in.

You might be interested to know that I've used the name Maya for many, many years as an alternative to Janice (philosophical reasons as well as a deep love for Machu Picchu)...

A very deep haiku, this one.

Thank you for your comment on my post. It was a very difficult prompt, and I had to write it quickly. In many countries there is that double standard.

They do grow and change so quickly. Don't you feel blessed just to watch them do so? :)
This is wonderful, as always.

I don't know the Peruvian roots of the word....May be in 16-1700 there was great exchange between Indian languages, German, Latin etc,

Maya in Sanskrit and several other Indian languages means "illusion" .... Krishna tells Arjuna "My womb is the great Nature (Prakriti or MAYA). In that I place the germ (embryo of life). Thence is the birth of all beings."

You might know that....if it interests you Bhagavad Gita is a good study for life...not the religious aspect...

Reading/studying The Bible, The Koran/Quran, and The Gita completely...is my ever incomplete project :)

Oh i make the connection with Peru -- for a moment i's lost :)

I just googled it and was stumped by my lack of memory - I have read and "studied" it before....and you applaud it here! strange! :)

Oh, that is so precious. I love how children listen to our words and make them their own. Thanks for stopping in and commenting on my "haiku". I've already been reminded that traditionally they involve nature. My own haikus vary wildly, but always display some of my personal "nature"! And can almost always been seen chez moi on Fridays.
