At the pond, thunder storms during the last three evenings... but the hummingbirds still visited the nectar feeders... in the beginning rains.
__If I used the word -the- (I think) it could point to -all- hummingbirds;  the word -this-  [I rightly (or wrongly) think] refers to... that -one- hummingbird in my sight... the one that spawned my "Scribble" below.

I heard that thundering sound just today! When the feeder is empty or clogged with bees, they always come to fetch me!!

we had thunderstorms as well..I love hummingbirds!!! I will sit in my swing and watch them for the longest..I loved this one!!!

and yes, thanks for the explanation to using "this" -- no, it is not about right or wrong Magyar...but i thought "the" could as well refer to a specific hummingbird...or whatever referred specifically,
