Devika, we have cormorants in New England too... on occasion, they -harvest- small fish from our pond, such a natural process; some local folks, once refered to them as 'Taunton Turkeys.'

:) it's wild, wild world...something like world wide web ~ think of it, there's so much more life and non-life to know,

anyway, good to be seeing you posting after a long gap, unusual of you?....but then blogging seems slowing down again, and many doesn't seem to be interested in blogging anymore, and that is sad,

wishes,
devika

I like your poem, although I tend to see them as beautiful rather than predatory.
I think this is becase we only have a few pairs every year to our lake in the city, and they seem like a magical event. I enjoy watching them swim, mainly submerged in the water, with just their long necks out, and how their head seems to swivel like a periscope.
As well I love seeing them air out their huge wings, when they find a cement dike to sit on. They seem abit prehistoric as well in flight.
I guess they are one of my favourite water birds to observe.
Thanks for visiting over at my blog, and leaving a poem, it was lovely to find.
Cheers!
Brenda
