__Short summer nights;  now,  as  bats forage the night sky (skies?) for sustenance,   is  night  'flies'   a  noun,  or  is  night,  'flies'  an intransitive verb?

Oh how powerfully this conjures up images of a summer's night...a solitary bat flies round and round our garden every night at present.
I so love bats...:))

Read in one of Houellebecq's books last night that flies don't grow any bigger once they enter the world. Small flies are not young flies any more than big flies are old flies. Male flies have a revier and will defend their territory against other male flies but naturally will attempt to mount any female flies who wander into their domain.
