__Houseflies are immediate... don't know how long that discarded snakeskin had been there.

seasons change
as the night stains each day
the houseflies

yellow ferns
along this forest pathway
a snakeskin

I love the shift of seasons you capture so aptly in your words, D. There is something about the change to autumn that always makes me happy. Until the snow comes...then I'm cranky! :)
